~ Hymnfest Events ~
Each of our Hymnfest events will start at 2:30. Following the singing and concert y'alls are invited to the Church gym for coffee and goodies.
Our "Gospel Hymnfest" house band, song leaders and technical supporters consist of people from several churches: including ZEMC, and the Olds First Baptist. They are:
Bonnie Steckly - Piano Dave Hooper - Piano/Key Board Simon Larouge - Drummer Priscilla Anderson - Violin Joshua Lehman - Guitarist
Emcee/Song Leaders: Don Matchullis and Debbie Wagner
Kay Mierendorf, our master of "Media Shout", displays the words on the screen. Many folks are used to this format. Everyone will also have access to hymnals that are located on the back of chairs.
We are pleased to have Rod Johnson and Trevor Quantz from First Baptist, Olds, as our experienced sound controllers.
Bud Parry is our treasurer. The offerings will support our guest musicians and assist with various other costs. Zion Church sponors Hymnfest enabling us to offer receipts for any donation of $20 or more.
Ken Lumbis, our in-house coffee specialist, brews it for us at each event. Each event ends with sit down refreshments in our gym.
There are over 40 folks involved to make each event work. We are so pleased with all the volunteers who help make each Hymnfest run smoothly. These include greeters and ushers, folks who prepare and serve coffee and goodies, setting up and taking down tables and chairs, assisting with advertising, pastors and church support staff, and much more.
We have been very pleased with the enthusiasic response of each one of you that we have invited to be part of this monthly event.
Expect folks to turn to Jesus. Many hearts will be encouraged with these beautiful old hymns and guest musicians.
Arnold is responsible for promotion. He will also be doing a bit of emceeing and making sure the events run smoothly. He worked with Jim and Twyla Penner to build this Gospel Hymnfest website. He has gathered a Canada Post mailing list of 60 churches across central Alberta and will be sending posters to them each month.
Debbie looks after the music, does a bit of emceeing, singing, guitar playing and securing special guests each month.
Larry and Debi Hooper are helping with the events. We are so thankful for their voices, insight and knowledge of the ZEMC stage, sound system and musicians. We appreciate their encouragement.
If you have any questions, concerns, ideas or helpful information please give one of us a call or send an email.
Thanks to our Gospel Hymnfest team members for your keen and open hearts to serve our Lord and community through musical praise and worship.
In sweet anticipation of that glorious day when we shall see our Lord face to face,
Debbie and Arnold
